Modelling plastic heating and melting in a semi-batch pyrolysis reactor

Plastic pyrolysis is a solution for the dilemma of enormous plastic waste accumulation and an alternative source energy, which converts wastes into wide range fuels chemicals by thermal decomposition. The concept widely validated applied at lab-scale in terms characterisation process its by-products. On other hand, numerical modelling optimizing sake developing efficient implementation industrial scale are seldom reported literature. And since there exist different phenomena involved during this (starting from feeding with raw material until recovery products), aim work to model validate heating melting plastics, using finite element method, inside semi-batch reactor as first step preceding cracking phenomenon. First, sensible heat transfer within reactor, empty or loaded solid liquid materials, modelled coupling energy momentum equations, where results experimentally rates. Moreover, modified apparent capacity method (AHCM) used revealed good capability. As result, through temperature profiles measured points on addressing balance whole experiment. Whereas, average relative error between experimental simulated results, rates didn’t exceed 8%. Finally, has paved way plastics.
